Family Counselling

Family is complicated. People who love each other can still hurt each other, talk past each other, and get stuck in patterns that nobody wanted. We help you work through it, together.

What is family counselling?

Families work through it together, with a neutral counsellor.

A counsellor stays neutral, keeps things honest, and makes sure everyone is heard.

It's for families who want to communicate better, parents supporting a child with additional needs, couples working out parenting together (or separately), and families going through significant change.

We stay neutral. We help everyone understand what's going on, and find a way forward that works for the whole family.

Who is this for?

  • Families where communication has broken down
  • Parents of children with disability or neurodivergence
  • Families going through separation or blending
  • NDIS families needing support as a whole unit
  • Couples working through parenting challenges
  • Any family that loves each other and keeps clashing
What a session looks like

How we work with families.

Everyone gets heard

We make sure every person in the room has the space to say what's going on for them, without being interrupted or dismissed.

We name the patterns

Families get stuck in communication cycles, the same argument in different forms. We name those patterns so the family can see them and change them.

We work on specific skills

We teach communication tools, conflict de-escalation and ways to understand each other's perspectives, so you can use them straight away.

Individual sessions when needed

Sometimes it helps to work with individuals separately before bringing them together. We use whatever structure works best for your family.

NDIS & fee-for-service

Cost, eligibility & getting started

The questions people ask before their first session.

What it costs

Family counselling follows the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits. The amount depends on session type, and whether it falls on a weekday, evening, or weekend. You can also see us privately, or through other schemes, if NDIS funding doesn't apply to your family. Either way, cost is always confirmed with you in writing before anything starts.

Am I eligible?

Family therapeutic supports typically sit under NDIS Capacity Building, Improved Relationships and Improved Daily Living, if a participant's plan includes that funding. A support coordinator or plan manager can help you check what applies. Families can also access us privately, no NDIS funding required.

Where we work

We're based in Thomastown and work with families right across Greater Melbourne, the northern, western, and eastern suburbs. Sessions are also available online through telehealth, and some of our work extends into regional Victoria.

How to start

Reach out by phone, our contact form, or email. The first conversation is about what your family is looking for, and you share as much as you want to. From there we match your family with a practitioner who suits your family. Your first session is usually booked within a few business days.

Start with one conversation.

One conversation is enough to see if we're the right fit.
