Anxiety & Worry
Racing thoughts. The "what ifs" that spiral. The physical tension you carry everywhere. Anxiety is real and exhausting, and there are evidence-based approaches for working with it.
Your threat-detection system, stuck on.
Anxiety is your brain's threat-detection system stuck in overdrive, running scans for danger even when you're just sitting still. That's why it's so exhausting, and why "just calm down" is the least useful advice ever.
Whatever form it takes (generalised worry, social anxiety, panic attacks, health anxiety, avoidance), counselling gives you something to work with.
We use approaches like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centred and Solution-Focused therapy. We work out which one fits how you think.

Anxiety shows up differently for everyone.
Sessions often cover these areas.
Understanding your anxiety pattern
We map how anxiety works for you, what triggers it, how it spirals, what you do to manage it. Seeing the pattern is the first step.
In practice: Tracking anxiety across a week using a simple log, then reviewing it together to spot the triggers and patterns that keep the cycle going.
Challenging the thought spiral
Tools to notice and test anxious thoughts, so you can think accurately and break the spiral.
In practice: Writing down a recurring anxious thought, then testing it against the evidence, step by step, until the certainty starts to shift.
Reducing avoidance
Avoidance feels like relief but feeds anxiety long-term. We build graded exposure at a pace you agree to, starting with the smallest step.
In practice: Creating a graded list of avoided situations and tackling the smallest one first, then debriefing what happened versus what anxiety predicted.
Nervous system regulation
When anxiety lives in your body, tightness, racing heart, can't breathe, we work on regulating your nervous system directly.
In practice: Trying three different grounding techniques in session, rating each one, and choosing the two that work best for your body to practise between sessions.
Values-based living (ACT)
ACT helps you stop letting anxiety make your decisions. You start moving toward what matters, even when anxiety tags along.
In practice: Identifying one thing that matters to you that anxiety has been blocking, then planning one small step toward it for the coming week.
Sleep & rumination
Anxiety and sleep problems go hand in hand. We address the 3am brain spiral with specific strategies for wind-down and rest.
In practice: Building a personalised wind-down sequence and a "worry parking lot" for the thoughts that arrive at 3am, so they have somewhere to go.

What it costs
Sessions follow the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, with the cost depending on the session type and whether it's a weekday, evening, or weekend. You can also access this support privately. Cost is always confirmed in writing before anything starts.
Am I eligible?
Support for anxiety usually sits under Capacity Building, Improved Daily Living. If your plan includes that funding, this is something you can use it for. Private, self-funded sessions are available too, and you don't need a diagnosis to reach out.
Where we work
Based in Thomastown, we work across Greater Melbourne, including the northern, western, and eastern suburbs. Online telehealth sessions are available too, and some support extends into regional Victoria.
